Like many others in the industry, Autodesk and RIB Software (RIB) have a shared goal: provide a software solution in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industry that reduces project risk while increasing profitability and productivity.
This was their aim when they introduced a new 5D solution, which promises to upgrade 3D design modeling and 4D construction modeling and scheduling by offering another core element: cost analysis.
Advantages of the 5D Solution
It is not new to offer project cost-estimation in building information modeling (BIM) software, but the 5D Solution has certain advantages—one being that it provides all the design capabilities from Autodesk’s Revit software and combines it with schedule and cost information into one environment.
This can potentially boost project success as it can be presented all at once, making it especially appealing to project teams that ultimately care about the two most important things in a construction project: scheduling and costs.
“Working with RIB creates an extraordinary opportunity for the construction industry to visualize all aspects of a project in a single 5D environment in a highly integrated offering,” said Amar Hanspal, senior vice president, Autodesk.
“Together we will work to deliver a 5D model enabling project stakeholders to put all their individual cards on the table to make more informed business decisions,” Hanspal continued. “This will result in reduced project…
