This screencast describes the procedures needed to model a bearing plate and schedule its elevation in Revit. Normally, you might want to create a family, but in this particular case, since we want to schedule the elevation, using a simple floor and then filtering it in a schedule is cleaner and more straightforward.
- Select the Floor tool from the ribbon.
- Click Edit Type in the Properties window. Then select Duplicate and rename your floor type to something descriptive like 1/2″ Plate.
- Edit the Structure in the Type Properties to match the bearing plate thickness and material you want to use.
- Assign a Type Mark with a prefix, such as “PL” so that you can filter out the plates in your schedule later.
- Select OK to close the Type Properties window.
- Sketch the plate as needed.
- Assign an appropriate Height Elevation Offset From Level for the sketched floor and complete the floor by clicking the green Finish checkmark in the Contextual Ribbon.
