I recently joined an adult soccer league here in town after about 30 years away from the sport. To say I’m a little rusty would be a major understatement. But it’s a lot of fun and a great workout. Fortunately, our team is placed in a lower division where we play teams of a similar “ability”. I’m keeping at it and getting a little better (and a lot less sore) each week.
One thing I’ve noticed is that in the latter part of the game, with only a few minutes left to play, my intensity picks up. I get to the ball quicker. We start moving down the field faster. It’s like the last ticks of the game clock push us to exert that last bit of effort. Once the game’s over, I always wonder where that extra energy was hiding out when I needed it in the first half. Maybe I just needed the pressure of the end of the game to tap into that reserve.
Same thing with the end of the year. I don’t know about you but I’ve been super busy these last few weeks. I’m trying…
