Its Happening in Asia – RTC News

i am in a lounge at Changi Airport this morning. Its an ordinary Monday in Singapore. Not much to differentiate this Monday from any other Monday…(except that today is my birthday)

I’m looking at the departure board.   Places with funny names.

I am wearing a Kansas City Royals T-Shirt from the 2015 Post-Season.   “Kanasas City Wants It More”.  I consider the board again.  Ward Parkway, Arthur Bryants, and  Kauffman Stadium are very far away.

In 2004 I visited Asia for the first time.  It blew me away.  I had to be there.  I wanted it more.  So i worked, found a job, and by 2006 had relocated east.

There was a tremendous wave of development underway.  The wave hit Singapore with Marina Bay Sands, National Stadium, and many other challenging designs.  It was early days for BIM in Asia.

2017 is bringing another wave.

Changi Airport will award the design contract to double its size.   Japan is on the cusp of approving 2 or 3 casino developments.  China’s One…
